Delta Beyond Oil: We’ll Adopt Technological Approach, Says Emu

Delta State Government will adopt technological approach in diversifying the state’s economy in line with the agricultural and agro-business initiatives aimed at developing Delta Beyond Oil, the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Kingsley Emu has said.

Emu stated this at the media unveiling of the Delta Trade Fair 2013 scheduled to begin on October 27, organized by the Delta State Association of Chambers for Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (DACCIMA) with the support of the Delta State Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Asaba.

He said the proposed 10 industries which included six cassava mills and four fish field mills across the state by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan administration was to look at alternative sources of developing the state other than oil as well as promoting the human capital development of the state.

He said that expectations are high on the trade fair expected to showcase more innovations and creativity of the rich human resource of Deltans to the world,

His words,“the government will also give priority attention to aquaculture to grow fish for the state. We are advantaged in this business because Delta State account for 60 percent land and 40 percent river. Besides, there are other new products to be showcased in the trade fair”, he noted.

The Commissioner for Information, Chike Ogeah Esq., in his remarks said the state government will actualize the dream of establishing the state industrially and meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people through the three-point agenda primed on peace and security, human capital and infrastructural development.

Earlier, the Economic Adviser to the Governor, Chief Afam Abiago had assured that the forthcoming trade fair will identify value for products and the dream of having Delta State investors’ preferred destination.

President, Delta State DACCIMA, Chief Uju Udeme, noted that the association and the supporting ministry are pulling all the resources together to give Deltans a befitting trade fair.

Delta State Trade Fair Consultant, Chief Austine Ezagbo, called on the private sector to participate in the trade fair aimed at adding value to the vast human capital development of the state government.
